Melodic Modulation
Melodic Modulation
Melodic Modulation is a common problem students have when trying to identify multiple note melodies. This is a common issue and I’ve created a series of books to help fix these problems.
Background
Once a student is getting around 50% correct notes on the beginning courses Ear Training One Note Complete and Contextual Ear Training they can start on the Melodic Ear Training. Currently there are three levels to the melodic ear training: Two Note, Three Note or Four Note Melodic Ear Training.
Melodic Modulation Issues
Once a student starts with melodic ear training they quickly find that they are modulating when hearing two or more notes. This is caused by weak key retention and I’ve created a series of courses that helps to fix this issue.
Books to help with Melodic Modulation Issues
Let me give you a rundown on how these three books will help you with problems where you modulate when hear two, three or four note melodies.
Key Retention Builder gives you pages of notes to sing in various octaves. These exercises are used in combination with a drone. There are various drone mp3s that slowly wean you away from having to hear a drone to stay in a key center. There is a very good video on the webpage talking about this course. Key Retention Builder is a very effective course that works fairly quickly to help you maintain a key center in your mind without a drone or repeated cadence being need to reinforce a key. Adding 10 minutes a day of this type of exercise can really help you with melodic ear training and in general with your ability to hear within a key center. There are more advanced exercises that can be done with Key Retention Builder to give you extraordinary key retention which should be the long term goal.
Melodic Modulation looks at melodies that common make a beginning student modulate. It is a singing course where you read through various types of melodies to fix issues of modulating when hearing these types of melodies. Very effective in pinpointing your problems which can also help me to help you with specific issues that are causing. Again a course where you add in a few minutes a day to sing through melodies that cause issues. Once sung and no issue is found or it is fixed you don’t need to repeat the exercise just continue to the next.
Melodic Modulation and Key to Your Kingdom is actually one of the more interesting ear training courses that I’ve ever created. It has a very simple concept which is to hear any note and extrapolate from that note the key center and sing the key center pitch. These mp3 files can be used by themselves but also could be used with any That makes each file very powerful in strengthening your key retention with any music of your choosing. Check out the example on the webpage where I use a Led Zeppelin tune as an example. This course will greatly help a beginner with key retention but it is much deeper than that. For instance, If you are an advanced student who wants to start superimposing one key center over another. The exercises in this course will go along way to helping you achieve that ability. There are many other applications too!
