Switching Guitar Chords Beginner
Q: Hello, I’m having problems switching guitar chords. I’m a beginner as a guitar player so I need real basic help on coordinating this for both hands. Do you have any recommendation on something that would help this issue?
Switching between guitar chords as a beginner is a real common problem for guitarist. I’ve written a book called 1st Steps for a Beginning Guitarist that I use with all my students that have the same problem as you do. The book shows you all the chords but it also give you chord progressions so you can develop the coordination you need to play fluently. It gives you 3 versions of each chord progression. Each gets progressively harder. This works really well for beginning guitarists because they can slowly build up technique and coordination between both hands. The songs you use are very popular rock and folk tunes so at the end you also have something to play for others which is a nice addition. The book also contains a lot of other information like:
- Guitar fretboard fingering for 10 popular scales
- Chord diagrams for each chord that you are learning.
- MP3 and Videos for each chord progression so you can hear what it sounds like.
- Pictures of how to hold the guitar and how to pick the guitar strings.
- Much, Much More check out the 1st Steps for a Beginning Guitarist webpage to see all the things it offers.
I’m also available via email if you have questions so it’s a win, win situation.
