Rhythm Work Books that are Good for a Beginner

Q: I have been working with https://muse-eek.com/ear-training-one-note-for-musicians-book-with-audio/ and https://muse-eek.com/ear-training-and-sight-singing-for-musicians-book-with-audio/ for several months now, and although slowly, I am progressing as time goes on. Even though I am at a VERY beginning level still, I have found a few days ago while listening to Ali Akbar Khan, I could assign scale degrees to most of what he was playing during the slow section with no percussion. My question is, do you think it would be wise at this time to start working on the rhythm work aspect of ear training as well? If so, what books of yours would you suggest I pick up and start working on?

A: You will need to get the following books: https://muse-eek.com/how-to-develop-rhythm-for-musicians-book-with-audio/, https://muse-eek.com/rhythms-lesson-for-musicians-book-with-audio/ & https://muse-eek.com/rhythms-lesson-for-musicians-book-with-audio-2/. Once you have the books get back to me and I’ll give you an assignment.

It is also recommended that you read Bruce Arnold’s Blog at his artist site. It contains more discussion of the musical topics found in these FAQs as well as other subjects of interest. You will also find the “Music Education Genealogy Chart” located here which shows you the historic significance of the music education products found on the Muse Eek Publishing Company Website.
