Minor Key Direct Application CD

Q: OK I’ll avoid focusing so much on the cadence and just let it sink in. I’m confused about Contextual Ear Training. In your ear training guided tour is says to add one degree at a time. So what I’m doing is adding notes to a playlist as I learn them. So far the playlist has 1,3,5 and I’m learning 7 separately. Once I have 7 I’ll add it to the list and start with 2. So on until I’ve done all 12 notes. That way I’m constantly revising the notes I know but focusing more time on learning the new degree. Admittedly when I add the newly learnt degree to the list it throws me for a while as it alters my perception of each degree, but only briefly. I get where you’re coming from about doing all notes and with one note I do sessions both divided and with all notes but I still don’t get how this is viable with Contextual Ear Training as there are so many files and I would have literally no idea how to sing for instance a flat 2 over a c minor cadence as I have not learned that degree. So far it’s taking me around 2 weeks per degree so guessing it would seem to almost be a waste of time unless the idea is just to get the correct process going on in terms of answering fast but I think I’m doing that anyway. What do you think?

Also are you going to release a Minor Key Direct application CD at some point?

A: Nice to hear from you. I’m only suggesting what I’ve found works with other students. If you disregard what I recommend then that’s your choice. Again I’ve found that taking one 5 to 10 minute period a day and randomly listening to Ear Training One Note and Contextual Ear Training helps to gain a wider perspective and context of all notes. There is already a Minor Key Direction application CD it can be found here:

Direct Application CD Volume Two Dorian Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.
