Hearing Chord Progressions via Ear Training
Q: I have purchased your ear training books. I have a few questions:
How do you work out chord progression via ear?
Do you have a daily training program?
Is it OK to use a CD player with ear buds to listen to the CD?
A: You will begin to learn how to hear and transcribe chord progressions when you begin to work on the Two Note Ear Training series and the Secondary Dominant book. I would recommend you first work with Ear Training One Note Complete and Fanatic’s Guide to Ear Training and Sight Singing or Contextual Ear Training.
It is definitely recommended that you use a CD player with ear jacks to do your ear training. It’s a great idea to carry a MP3s with you and do ear training in any situation where you have a few minutes time to concentrate.
It is also recommended that you read Bruce Arnold’s Blog at his artist site. It contains more discussion of the musical topics found in these FAQs as well as other subjects of interest. You will also find the “Music Education Genealogy Chart” located here which shows you the historic significance of the music education products found on the Muse Eek Publishing Company Website.
